Hogenakkal Falls is peacefully located in the Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu, showcasing the
remarkable might of nature. This captivating waterfall, often called the "Niagara of India," is a
beautiful destination. It was during the monsoon season, but the sun was shining brightly when we
left Bangalore at 9 am and arrived around 12 pm. Along the way, we passed through a small forested
ghat section, eventually reaching the falls.
One of the most famous activities here is the coracle ride, which takes you very close to the main
part of the falls, providing an up-close experience. Hogenakkal is known for its unique circular
bamboo boats, called "coracles." Skilled boatmen expertly guided us for a better view of the
falls, adding an extra layer of adventure to our exploration.
The boat ride lasted an hour, and it was thrilling as we sailed down the river at a steady pace.
We even got the chance to row the boat ourselves and enjoyed the experience. As we ventured
further, the sound of the falls grew louder, preparing us for the extraordinary sight that awaited
us.
As we approached Hogenakkal Falls, its sheer power and the mist it generated became evident. The
water, crashing down from a height, created a mesmerizing and dramatic scene, painting the
surroundings with a surreal hue. We captured photos and had fun, then played in the water in a
designated safe area.
Later, on our way back, I enjoyed a delicious fish lunch. During our return journey, we passed
through the Cauvery North Wildlife Sanctuary, which added to the overall experience, concluding
our trip back to Bangalore.
